The aim proposed beyond the monograph has to do with global markets, and how Egypt navigates the pulls originating in the global south and in the global north.
The sketches propose that this ethnography would look at Christian churches in non-christian countries or less open countries. I think the proposal is constructive and that very interesting findings could emerge from the application of such a proposal
This sketch gives me a clear idea of what this ethnography is about such as who are the main actors and notes that positionality is not addressed. I would like to know what an example of what the text had to say that was not so obvious.
This sketch proposed that this ethnography could be a museum exhibit or educational activity for young children.
The sketch proposes adapting the book into a play or movie. Since one of the objectives of the book is to reach a wide audience, a movie would help spread Lia and her family's story and the socio-medical problems inherent within it. I think that's a good idea since movie screenings are a popular way to bring people's attention to a particular social problem. I think it might also be beneficial to turn it into a 10-minute animated short, like the kind designed for children. The way it centers on Lia's struggle with her medical disorder made it seem especially conceivable to have it made in a short.
This sketch proposes to relay the ethnography as a video series or an online livestream. Akil does mention concerns about protecting the anonymity of the interlocutors in such a proposal. I do think that a carefully crafted video series or livestream on Twitch could be a great way to expand audiences for this kind of work! Maybe even in a Q&A kind of setting.
This sketch proposes to use the project as an educational module for kids "to learn alternative practices for producing food, building residences, coexisting with the
environment and with the rest of the community in a sustainable and reciprocal manner". I think it would be a great idea, as many schools have already been participating in promotion of sustainable lifestyle.
The sketcher proposed the medium of "video series, using actors to recreate moments". I think this would be a decent way the present the material.
I think it would be more meta to make the intended audience create characters and recieve the information contained from a combination of experiencing the game (participating in the commerce, relationships, etc.) but also receiving virtual lectures in a virtual classroom by the author/presenter's character.
The sketch suggest the circulation between acedemics and animal rights activist and I agree with this. Additionally, the sketch says possibly turning the text into a poem. film, or play could yeild similar results. I agree with this, and would push for a film, however there is a strange sybiotic relationship between human and animal and could even see this performing in a visual novel video game or a top down co-op play. While there is concerning issues of making field work a game or "playable" there has been a rising interest to tell stories through video games.
The sketch proposes a poetry reading of the stories collected by the ethnographer. As a fan of poetry, I love this idea and would enjoy a poetic rendering of these anthropological questions.
This sketch relays this ethnography beyond the monograph by tying in the overall effect of the ethnographies with the theories and social science behind the phenomenon to help readers see this more than just through a personal lens, but from a socio-political lens, from a necropolitics lens and from a humanistic lens.
