Salvador Zárate is Ford Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of African American Studies. He was a member of the UC San Diego Studio for Ethnographic Design and the UC Collaboratory for Ethnographic Design (CoLED). His research deploys historical and ethnographic methods to examine Black and Latina women's labor in agriculture and extractive industries during the Jim Crow era. His ongoing second project, shaped by his experiences as a landscaper and labor organizer with domestic workers, deploys ethnographic methods to engage gardening and domestic work in Orange County.
