Biography

My research focuses on the complexities of coal and coal based infrastructures and the socio-political ruptures that emerge from their introductions in specific landscapes. Having conducted year long fieldwork in Tamil Nadu (India), I lead my research from a focus on state illegalities, from financial malpractice in the the purchase of domestic and international coal to the violation of environmental legislation in the construction of energy infrastructures, that are heavily linked to coal and thermal power plants in the region. Having worked as a photographer and filmmaker, before taking up the PhD in Edinburgh, I integrated those skills wherever possible and permissible throughout my fieldwork year. I'm presently back in Edinburgh, working through my field notes, somewhere in the process of writing up.
