Critical Commentary

This image is part of a combination of photos exploring the Puerto Ricans response to the crisis caused by Hurricane Maria. Contrary to the previous photo essay title The Toxicity of the U.S Aid Relief in which I present (the unintended or intended) consequences the U.S relief  aid in Puerto Rico, this time I present images that reflect how islander have resisted this toxicity. In this image, there is Jesus statue next to a newly sprout plant. I am trying to convey how the religious culture in the island is embedded in the everyday life of residents. Furthermore, during Hurricane Maria a lot of people prayed for protection from the hurricane.
