Critical Commentary

This a video produced by Ben Mendelsohn, is a media scholar who is now a postdoctoral scholar at University of Pennsylvania's program in Environmental Humanities. This video shows his documentation of images of urban flooding in the year 2018, and shows him categorizing/coding the images into different themes such as: animals, highways in water, and so on. Through the perspective of visualizations of floods, he narrativizes these varied cities as part of one global urban coast. Interestingly the video makes visible the ways in which the images are being placed into different categories of analysis by the researcher.
