Critical Commentary

This picture was taken inside an abandoned Chino, California dairy. In frame we see the stancheons, or mechanical milking stations, where cows would be milked daily. The smell of this room was intense. The dairy industry was pivotol to the economy of the Inland Empire, employeeing both generations of local youth, and generations of migrant labor from Mexico and beyond. Free trade and undercutting competition, combined with years upon years of drought have made dairy production unviable moving forward.
